Feature sets allows system administrators to package and sell Meridix in custom editions where each edition can contain different access rights to the available features.

If no feature sets is defined all users and customers has full access (according to their role: user or administrator). If one or more feature sets is defined a customer or user can be granted access to a specific set of features. For example you can create a feature set named Basic that only grants users access to the basic report page and then create a feature set called Advanced where you can grant users access to all features in the system. There are no limit on how many different feature sets you can create you can create and name them to whatever you prefer for example LITE, STANDARD and ENTERPRISE.

This new feature gives re-sellers an easy way to package the system according to their needs and business model.

To access the feature set administration go to Administration->Settings->Feature sets and click on the Add new set link to create a new set. The image below shows a system where two feature sets has been created (Base and Advanced). Remember that you can name your feature sets to whatever you like.

Only system administrators can grant feature sets to customers and users. And a feature set does not override the users role (for example administrator) which means that even if a feature set has access to view users or import data etc. if the user does not have the administration role granted they will not be able to access that feature even if the feature set allows it.

The access rights to a feature is evaluated in the following order:

  1. Users role (user | administrator)
  2. Users feature set (if defined)
  3. Customers feature set (if defined)
  4. Full access if no feature set is available or granted

If you check the default set check box, all customers that does not have a feature set granted will be configured to use the default feature set.

Once you have created one or more feature sets you will get the option to grant them to customers on the customer edit page. (If no feature sets is created this option will not be available)

You can also grant feature sets to individual users on the user editor page. (If no feature sets is created this option will not be available)
